Information on the reporting of climate impact for CPX products.
Background
Our carbon footprint calculation model was developed by Sweco on behalf of us and our sister companies. The system boundaries of the model cover cradle-to-gate. For the International market, this refers to the point where the product leaves our warehouse in Skebobruk.
Calculation Methodology
The model allows for the input of up to four materials/components, including modes of transport and transport distances to the manufacturing site for each, as well as the manufacturing process, including units per product variant.
Climate impact is calculated by summing the emission factors for each material (including extraction, transport, and further processing), transport, and manufacturing process. Emission factors for materials have been sourced from Ecoinvent v.3 and the Swedish Transport Administration’s climate database. Other emission factors (transport, manufacturing processes, and electricity mixes) are sourced from Ecoinvent. Energy consumption at each of our production sites is based on data from our business system and energy invoices, and the country-specific electricity mix is applied for production in the respective countries where processing takes place.
Uncertainties
The model is based on generic emission data and may therefore yield different results compared to supplier-specific data, such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
Model Validation
Sweco has conducted an internal review and validated the model by using emission factors from recognized sources and comparing the results with a previous LCA conducted by Ramboll on one of our products.
Opportunities for Improvement
We continuously strive to lead the way in sustainability. Thanks to a strong foundational understanding and high level of commitment among our employees, we are able to set ambitious targets. Our long-term goal is to minimize all environmental impacts by making active, sustainable choices regarding materials, processes, and transport.
We will continue to refine our calculations as more accurate input data becomes available. We are continuously working to collect data from suppliers and improve our internal measurement methods.
